John McElroy, Ph.D., founder, President and CSO
Formerly, Dr. McElroy was Director of Neuroscience Biology at Bristol-Myers Squibb. His 16 years of pharmaceutical industry experience also includes roles at Burroughs Wellcome and DuPont Pharmaceuticals, 5 clinical development candidates, 9 patents and over 40 publications. He has Doctoral and Postdoctoral experience investigating central and peripheral mechanisms of metabolic disorders. Dr. McElroy received his Ph.D. in pharmacology from the University of Massachusetts.

 

Robert Chorvat, Ph.D., Vice President Chemistry
Dr. Robert Chorvat leads the Medicinal Chemistry effort and is responsible for the identification and preparation of proprietary compounds that are expected to meet the program requirements of Jenrin Discovery, as well as crafting the patent applications covering these agents. He has more than 30 years of management experience in the pharmaceutical industry where he headed medicinal chemistry groups at Searle/Monsanto, DuPont Medical Products, DuPont-Merck and DuPont Pharmaceuticals (now Bristol Meyers Squibb). Dr. Chorvat’s research teams focused on the identification and development of agents to treat a variety of cardiovascular and central nervous system diseases, and resulted in over ten compounds achieving pre-clinical development status. Prior to Jenrin Discovery, Dr. Chorvat was Director of Business Development for TimTec, a compound library and software provider.

Dr. Chorvat was also an adjunct professor at the University of Illinois School of Pharmacy, and served on the Scientific Advisory Board of deCode Genetics (formerly MediChem Life Sciences) in Lemont, IL. He has authored or co-authored about 40 peer-reviewed papers and three book chapters, and is the inventor on about 50 issued US patents. Dr. Chorvat received his Ph.D. from Illinois Institute of Technology, and his Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois Benedictine College (Benedictine University).
